Two teachers from Xiao Hong Middle School in Harbin, China visited Biddick from 27th-28th November 2014 as part of our continued work with our partner school. Mr McKenzie visited their school in October along with staff from 7 other Sunderland schools. On Thursday in the Sunderland Council chambers staff and pupils from Biddick and the 7 other schools attended a re-signing of the Friendship agreement between Sunderland and Harbin. This was originally signed 5 years ago in Harbin by the headteachers from Sunderland [including Mr Wilkinson] and it was agreed to re-sign it for a further five years. The meeting was attended by the Vice Mayor of Harbin and several other officals and teachers from the city. Our pupils were very nervous but did a great job of presenting their work and experiences of visiting China to the delegation. Our visitors have been made very welcome at Biddick and have thoroughly enjoyed observing lessons and visiting Sunderland.
It is hoped that we can send another group of pupils over to Harbin within the next year to continue the partnership.
